World Bee Day (May 20th)

A piece done for World Bee Day 2019 featuring five species of native Australian bees and the agriculturally significant European honeybee. Brush script is harder than it looks!

Three native Australian bees: a leafcutter, the ever popular blue-banded, and a tiny little callomelitta.

Two native species: the tiny stingless or sugarbag bee, and the flashy neon cuckoo bee that parasitises the brood of the blue-banded bee. At last, the classic European honeybee.
